FORMER NIGERIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER TO THE UK DR. CHRISTOPHER KOLADE DIES AT 92

Highly respected Nigerian diplomat, broadcaster, academic, and corporate leader, Dr. Christopher Kolade, has passed away.

Sources close to the nonagenarian confirmed his death on Thursday, though details were still sketchy as of press time. He would have turned 93 on December 28, 2025.

Born in Erin-Oke, Osun State, in 1932, Dr. Kolade began his illustrious career in broadcasting, rising to become Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), where he earned a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and ethical leadership.

He later made his mark in the corporate sector, serving as Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, and held prominent roles in the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).

Between 2002 and 2007, Dr. Kolade served Nigeria as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, where he distinguished himself through diplomacy, intellect, and moral clarity.

A passionate advocate for ethical governance and leadership excellence, he continued to impact generations through teaching and mentoring at institutions such as the Lagos Business School and through his Christopher Kolade Foundation.

Dr. Kolade was widely regarded as a national moral compass, revered for his humility, integrity, and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s progress.

He is survived by his family and countless mentees who continue to uphold his legacy of service and character.
